Our primary motivation was to be closer to our children, who have settled in Asheville, North Carolina—just a manageable 1.2-hour drive away. The chance to be near our granddaughter and actively engage in her life was a compelling and heartfelt reason for the move.
Interestingly, this transition also perfectly suits our personal preferences. Having grown up in the chilly climates of Minnesota and Rhode Island, we were eager to find a balanced environment—avoiding the harsh winters we once knew and the extreme heat of places like Florida. South Carolina’s moderate climate was exactly what we were looking for.
Beyond the weather, Greenville offered other compelling advantages. The state’s conservative values, friendly communities, and significantly lower cost of living made it an attractive place to call home. The warmth of the people here matches the climate, creating a welcoming and safe atmosphere that truly makes us feel at home.
